If you're starting to feel like you've seen every Haywood Wakefield buffet and Bakelite radio in the Hudson Valley twice, it's time to head south to Pennsylvania's Amish country for the thrice-yearly Renninger's Antiques Extravaganza, a monster flea market that occurs simultaneously in two locations, Adamstown and nearby Kutztown. Martha Stewart and her buyers are regulars. (She's on the lookout for jadite glass.) The Adamstown market is just off the state turnpike, where horse-pulled carriages clop alongside rattling trucks, and you'll find 700 vendors offering everything from near-perfect Eames chairs to the usual mountains of chipped Fiestaware and rusty tin toys. (Fifteen hundred more are in Kutztown.) Spend the night at King's Cottage, a Spanish Mission revival with an Art Deco fireplace, turn-of-the-century antiques, and a fish pond. For dinner, ignore the signs for mile-long Pennsylvania Dutch smorgasbords and stop at the Log Cabin restaurant for straightforward steaks and double-cut chops. And before turning north, if you want still more bargains, but not of the pre-owned variety, visit the nearby Tanger Outlet Center, which has a Donna Karan, a Ralph Lauren, and a J. Crew.
