William Wegman’s elegant weimaraners, who are regularly photographed wearing Isaac Mizrahi and Yves Saint Laurent, may look like they subsist entirely on light lunches at La Goulue, but in fact, the precocious pups get their food from the unassuming Little Creatures pet shop near Avenue A (126 St. Marks Place; 212-473-2857). “I used to live in that neighborhood, and I still use them,” says Wegman, who now lives with his dogs in Chelsea. “They deliver.” Sharing a block with several tattoo parlors and body-piercing salons, as well as the psychedelic House of Trance, Little Creatures has been an East Village mainstay for fifteen years. It carries a wide selection of the natural and prescription diet pet foods that Wegman’s discriminating dogs demand, including Science Diet, Wellness Food, and Eukanuba. And for the tattoo-parlor set, Little Creatures also stocks an extensive range of scary-looking spiked leather dog collars – which, presumably, can be worn by either dog or owner.
