At last, a practical application for ninth-grade geometry: The frame of the Wilson Triad 3 ($230; 800-946-6060; wilsontennis.com) is made from ten-sided tubing (instead of the standard four), a design that provides more stiffness, stability, and power. Since it also uses less material, this oversize racquet weighs in at just 9.3 ounces. And the three-piece construction (the head and handle are joined by a shock-absorbing polymer) lets you swing away with comfort. Tennis made the Triad 3 an editor’s choice—one player called the weapon a “shot of Viagra” for his game.
