Ted Leo & The Pharmacists

For over ten years, Ted Leo has been one of the most progressive forces in East Coast independent music, with a unique combination of punk and folk, soul and hardcore, and tradition and experimentation. With his latest release, Living with the Living (and first with Touch and Go Records), Ted Leo and the Pharmacists deliver existentialist ethos to a new crop of rude boys. The band met up with Brendan Canty (Fugazi) to iron out a new set of anthems that arrive with a confident and outspoken immediacy. With Living with the Living, Ted & Co. wipe clean the slate that once held names like Weller, Strummer and Bragg and indulge some of their farthest-reaching musical ambitions.www.tedleo.com

Andrew WK

Andrew WK

Not just a party animal but a party guerrilla, Andrew W.K. burst onto the scene with a hybrid of metal, pop, and dance that parodied and paid tribute to the cheesiest, sleaziest aspects of all three styles. The California-born, Michigan-bred, W.K. began classical piano lessons at age four and moved on to playing in Detroit punk and metal bands before moving to New York City to record his own material. The buzz around W.K.’s hedonistic, so-dumb-it’s-smart rawk resulted in a gig opening for the Foo Fighters as well as a deal with Island/Def Jam in the U.S. In 2004, W.K. hosted an advice show on MTV 2, Your Friend, Andrew W.K. He recently opened up the Manhattan club Santos Party House.www.andrewwk.com
