Profile
Gentlemen, cool your engines: Jennifer Convertibles doesn’t sell retractable-roofed sportscars. But you’ll get more mileage out of the store’s wide selection of moderately priced sofas and loveseats—sleeper and standard, in an array of fabrics and leathers—than you ever would from a mere auto. Stylistically, the sofas stick with safe, time-proven traditional and contemporary styles; overstuffed, brown-leather models tailor-made for a psychiatrist’s office; pillow-laden, white slip-covered couches typify shabby chic; and sleek, clean-lined sectionals covered in Ultrasuede evoke pricier models from B&B Italia or Maurice Villency. A few floor samples are for sale, but most purchases require advance orders, and a week or so of waiting—far less than most department-store schedules. Customers pick their style and upholstery (Jennifer Convertible stores only offer fabric upholstery; Jennifer Leather, just leather; those designated as both offer myriad fabrics with limited leather options) and allow seven to ten days for delivery of in-stock items. Limited additional furniture and accessories, like end and coffee tables, lamps, rugs, recliners and dinette sets, are also available.
