New York Magazine’s spring/summer 2018 New York Weddings issue is on newsstands now, featuring English garden bouquets appropriate for Meghan Markle (and you), tips from experts ranging from a gown designer to a wedding speechwriter, the best-reviewed registry items on Amazon under $50, glamorous slip dresses, cakes oozing with rainbow candy, and much more. The issue is available for purchase here, and will be followed by New York’s annual New York Weddings Event, which brings it all to life, on March 21. Tickets are available at weddings.nymag.com (and if you can’t make it, follow the action at our new @nymagweddings Instagram account).

Katy Schneider, associate editor of both New York Weddings and New York Magazine’s e-commerce site the Strategist, says her favorite part of the issue was the cakes. I mean, who can blame her? “I’m not usually the biggest banana-cake fan,” she says, “but Cake Hero makes the most delicious buttercream frosting.” The day New York Weddings shot the cake, “the entire Strategist/fact-checking team spent the day licking frosting off a knife.”

Meanwhile, Jessica Silvester, editor of the New York Weddings issue, was taken by the ’70s vibes of the gowns. “There’s a gathered tulle cape-coat, styled by editors Rebecca Ramsey and Lindsay Peoples, over a simple slip gown,” says Silvester. “The model looks like the coolest bride you’ve ever seen. She makes you want to party. She makes me want to get married again just so I can wear that tulle cape.” If she were getting married again, Silvester says she’d buy a bunch of the products listed in the issue’s guide to not overheating at your summer wedding. She talked to one recent hot-weather bride who said, “The refreshing coconut-water wipes from Sephora were my savior, and I’m going to buy them for summer in general.”
