Café Gray
Aside from Thomas Keller at Per Se on the 4th floor, the next highly
anticipated return to New York's dining scene is former Lespinasse
chef Gray Kunz. His 200-seat brasserie designed by David Rockwell
will open next month and boast a grand view of the park. But for
frequent TWC-goers who may find gazing at the The Maine a
bit passé by mid-March, there will also be an open kitchen
where they can get an eyeful of Kunz and company working their magic.
A recent
New York feature on Kuntz's return describes his
cuisine as "not so much fusion as the product of a man fluent
in the food languages of Europe, India, China, and Southeast Asia."
