Note: This week, New York inaugurates a regular feature devoted to the increasingly elaborate offerings of condo developers. We leave it to readers (and buyers) to decide: marketing tool or genuinely life-enhancing feature?
The building: The Element
Location: 555 West 59th Street
The amenity: Storage space in wine merchant Morrell & Company’s temperature-controlled vault and valets who’ll fetch a bottle for you when you need it; a Website that calculates your “liquid net worth” and shows pictures of your collection, in case you miss your bottles. Should you be stumped about what to serve with, say, wasabi-crusted swordfish, a “personal sommelier” will come to the rescue and advise on food pairings. The advisers will also be on call to recommend investment wines, attend private parties, or arrange tastings for your wino friends. A modest discount comes with the deal, too, as does first crack at hard-to-obtain new wines and rare vintages.
