Designer Betsey Johnson—she of the flamboyant mane and offbeat fashion line—is leaving her two-bedroom penthouse in the West Village and has put it up for sale. The space sounds a lot like her fashion; on their Web listing, Corcoran’s Gina Serman describes the 1,660-square-foot aerie as “a lavishly presented confection of fifties Hollywood glamour trimmed in lace, velvet, and gold tassels, beneath the signature pink paint and fabulously frou-frou furnishings.” It also has views from all four exposures, “ebonized” floors, a “floating” staircase, and 1,000 square feet of outdoor space. No word on where Johnson’s headed next, though she also owns a villa in a Mexican fishing village she dubs “Betseyville.” Those who want a whiff of her whimsy can bunk there for $7,500 a week in the peak season, or buy this apartment for $3.6 million.
