They’re not giving it away for free, Depression style, but Hearth has come pretty close with its new winter soup menu. Five soothing varieties—from a classic ribollita to a cure-all chicken and dumplings—are on offer for $5 a bowl at the bar only. An appetizer portion in the dining room will run you $9, but that’s still a good deal compared with the old Lespinasse’s infamous $35 potage. 403 E. 12th St., at First Ave.; 646-602-1300.
