Among the many things Texans love to argue about—whenever they’re not plotting secession—is how to make chili con carne. Expats are no exception, and next week, two Lone Star Staters (the General Greene’s Julie E. Farias and Char No. 4’s Matt Greco) will determine who makes the best bowl of red. On February 22, at the G.G., $21 will buy you a side-by-side comparison of their handiwork, plus a bottle of beer and a shot of bourbon. On February 23, Char No. 4 gets the home-field advantage, offering the same. Customers fill out ballots, and will find out via e-mail who’s the prevailing chili champ (the General Greene, 229 Dekalb Ave., Ft. Greene; 718-222-1510; Char No. 4, 196 Smith St., Cobble Hill; 718-643-2106).
