Shore Meals

You don’t need to be at the beach to eat that way. Here’s how a few local restaurants compensate.

  1. 1. ‘21’ Club

    21 W. 52nd St., nr. Fifth Ave.; 212-582-7200

You’d think this Prohibition-era institution would be too fusty for such things, but on July 31, it’s throwing a Chesapeake clambake—and caution to the wind (à la carte or $55 three-course prix fixe).

  2. 2. Savoy

70 Prince St., at Crosby St.; 212-219-8570

Through July 31, lobster is the centerpiece of the $40 Montauk Point boiled dinner, which begins with littlenecks and ends with peach- and-blueberry crumble; $55 with unlimited rosé.

  3. 3. Zócalo

    174 E. 82nd St., nr. third Ave.; 212-717-7772

Starting July 26, summer specials include a $32 Yucatán-style clambake of shellfish and chorizo in achiote-habanero sauce.

  4. 4. HQ

90 Thompson St., nr. Spring St.; 212-966-2755

The $37.50 Monday-night clambake covers familiar coastal territory, from New England clam chowder to Key-lime pie.

  5. 5. The Hideaway

185 Duane St., nr. Greenwich St.; 212-334-5775

Summer Mondays are Blue Crab Night at this Tribeca newcomer, where post-weekend malaise is ameliorated with Maryland crabs, peel-and-eat shrimp, and corn on the cob.
