Fungus Fever

What do local gastronomes get when you cross a wet Italian summer with a strong euro? An abundance of pricey white truffles.

  1. 1. Sapori d’Ischia

    55-15 37th Ave., at 55th St., Woodside; 718-446-1500

One of the best deals in town: Every Tuesday through November 28, this Italian food-importer-cum-ristorante serves a four-course white-truffle menu for $50.

  2. 2. San Domenico

    240 Central Park S., nr. Broadway; 212-265-5959

For an extra $6 per gram (at a suggested four to five grams a shot), they’ll shave the pungent stuff over a variety of truffle-friendly dishes, from a $16 fried egg on polenta with Robiola to a $37.50 roasted veal saddle.

  3. 3. Del Posto

    85 Tenth Ave., nr. 16th St.; 212-497-8090

Mark Ladner’s mouth-watering truffle-crazed menu is $295 per person, with an optional wine pairing for $105.

  4. 4. The Four Seasons

    99 E. 52nd St., nr. Park Ave.; 212-754-9494

Your choice of pasta, risotto, or a baked potato, given the Tuber magnatum treatment, at a flat rate of $200.
