Pig Outs

We thought August meant corn, tomatoes, and lobster. Apparently, we forgot about pork.

  1. 1. Pig Feast at August

August 20–26; 359 Bleecker St., nr. Charles St.; 212-929-8727

In tribute to France’s La Pourcailhade—an absurdity of piglet races, pig-squeal competitions, and porcine costumes— August offers a comparatively staid special menu of roast suckling pig and Continental hams.

  2. 2. BLT Festival 2007

    August 25, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Union Square Wines & Spirits; 212-675-8100

Love wine? Love bacon? This tasting was made for you. The $10 entrance fee covers a sandwich, over 70 wines, and a Riedel glass to take home.
