Once important subjects such as Where is it? and Give it to me now have been addressed, many of us cease to worry about coffee. But if you’ve ever wondered how much of the stuff it would take to kill you, the guys at AsapSCIENCE have your answer in a new video.
The lethal dosage of caffeine is said to be about 150 milligrams of caffeine for each kilogram of weight in your body. So if you are, for example, an average weight woman of about 150 pounds — that’s approximately 70 kilograms — you’d have to ingest 14,000 milligrams of caffeine in order for it to kill you. That’s about 70 cups of coffee, and you’d need to consume it all at once in order for the toxicity to take effect. The video points out that because your body can’t physically hold that much coffee, you probably are not going to coffee yourself to death. Sounds like a challenge.
