On October 15, the formerly drab, institutional-looking 14th Street Y will unveil a redesign that’s decidedly more mod. Most notably, Z-A Studio and Studio ST transformed the utilitarian fitness center into a sleek, mood-enhancing space with rows of shiny new cardio and weight machines set against a background of canary yellow and Pop orange. Monthly memberships start at $69 and include access to a pool and basketball court (344 E. 14th St., nr. First Ave.; 212-780-0800).
