There are a few odd things about the new shop Fair Folks & a Goat. The name, yes, but also the location (on the third floor of a ritzy townhouse on the Upper East Side, a neighborhood not known for funkiness) and the by-appointment edict. The diverse selection, as shown here, more than makes up for the eccentricities (thegoat@fairfolksandagoat.com).

Next: A coffee table that can be dimmed or brightened to set the right mood.
