As a die-hard beauty junkie, and a woman of color, I'm often excluded from the world I love. A trip to a department store for foundation, concealer, or powder is a daunting task since most of my favorite brands don't make shades that match my complexion. However, despite my mahogany tone, I love to lie out on the beaches of Hawaii, Antigua, and St. Maarten and often want to rock the same supreme chocolate in the winter. Fake tan for the dark-ebony-hued? Not impossible. Dante Fitzpatrick at Beach Bum Tanning sprayed me down to the Nubian goddess shade that I love with a customized airbrush tan that looked perfectly natural—and he even contoured my abs.
$75 at Beach Bum Tanning, 25 W. 14th St., nr. Fifth Ave.; 212-645-8261; house calls available, too.
