To say that the Peninsula Spa for ESPA is beautiful would be an understatement. The 35,000-square-foot behemoth is absolutely stunning. But unlike other luxe spas that specialize in fluffy pampering rather than thorough treatments, ESPA delivers top-notch and effective services. Especially noteworthy is the Deep Tissue Experience. It begins with the typical tea and foot ritual that you get at many five-star spas, but the treatment is more than just an oil rubdown. Clients are dry-brushed (you're literally brushed with a supersize brush), then exfoliated again with a traditional body scrub, rocked from side to side, stretched, and massaged until you feel like a smooth limp noodle. Massage therapist Erica Schumacher's attention to detail is amazing. She works with clients on breathing and makes it a point to get rid of every kink that existed in your body. The price is steep, but if there's one indulgence to be had, this is it.
$465 for two hours at 700 Fifth Ave., at 55th St.; 212-903-3910.
