There's something surprisingly appealing about these slightly daft Ear Muff Headphones from Hammacher Schlemmer. I mean, don't get me wrong: They are, conceptually speaking, totally dorky. And at first I thought, who really needs to own another pair of headphones that can only be used in the winter? But then I realized that they're only $35, and they're a helluva lot more convenient than, say, trying to insert earbuds while wearing gloves. They're also pretty well made—the speakers are by JVC, and the fleece on the inside is supplemented by Thermolite and Polartec insulation. So if there's any sort of walking involved in your daily commute, you can stay warm and stay entertained at the same time.
$35 at Hammacher Schlemmer, 147 E. 57th St., at Lexington Ave.; 212-421-9000; hammacher.com.
