Remember the clothes shaver? The little device, once hawked on infomercials, that shaves pills and little lint clumps from your sweaters? Designer Stefano Giovannoni has, somewhat improbably, reimagined the homely gadget for Italian home-design merchant Alessi. As seen on display at Alessi’s gorgeous new Soho flagship store (stop by if only to grab a perfect espresso from the sleek coffee bar up front that’s run by Joe: The Art of Coffee), the Piripicchio clothes shaver looks like some sort of art object or futuristic medical device. Now I’m just waiting for Alessi to reinvent the Bedazzler and the Bagel Guillotine.
$38 at Alessi, 130 Greene St., nr. Prince St.; 212-941-7300.
