Some day everything will look like it was designed by Apple. Case in point: the space-agey new Oxo Good Grips Angle Can, which is pretty much the perfect garbage can. It’s made of tough, shiny, scratch-resistant hard plastic (sort of like Bakelite) and has a slanted top and a perfectly placed hand-hold to make emptying it an ergonomically correct experience. And because it’s so narrow (6.5 inches wide), it doesn’t monopolize the space under your desk but still holds a lot of junk (2.5 gallon’s worth). For the record, it was conceived by IDEO, the legendary global design firm that, it turns out, also designed the mouse for the first Apple Macintosh—and is behind the current very cool “IDEO Selects” show at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
$14.99 at J&R.
