There are plenty of options for adding external speakers to your computer or iPod, but none combine teeny size and big sound as impressively as the new Yamaha One Box Cubic Speaker. It’s only 3.5 inches square, but it packs surprisingly powerful titanium-cone speakers on each side for true stereo separation and pumps out bass through a slot on the bottom. The minimalist design includes just one multifunction button (power, volume, mute) on top. The sound that comes out of this baby is pretty amazing; the only downside is that you have to plug it into a wall socket (I wish it was USB-powered), but the power brick is about as small as they get. The black model is easier to find than the white one (Sharper Image stores are now selling the black one only for the $100 manufacturer’s suggested retail price), but Dell’s online store now carries both at a really sweet discount.
