Staples, the ubiquitous office-supply chain, has always prided itself on its dull, utilitarian predictability. But maybe its recent sponsorship of NBC’s The Office has prompted a little soul-searching, because the new M by Staples collection of office supplies, luggage, and other business accessories amounts to a total about-face from Dwight Schrute–style severity. From colorfully quirky pushpins, plaid-clad journals, and boldly striped notebooks on the low end, to quilted leather “padfolios” and compartment-packed rolling travel bags on the high end, Staples is making a big play for style-conscious consumers. Even the humble file folder gets a total makeover, with a dozen different styles to choose from.
$1.49 to $149 at select Staples stores.
