More and more digital-camera manufacturers these days are releasing what you might call Gossip Girl models—pocket-size shooters that are designed to produce images optimized for the Internet. Fujifilm, expanding on its popular ultracompact Z line, is upping the ante with the new Z200fd. Like its predecessor, the Z20fd, it has a blog-mode setting (which automatically resizes images for blogs, Facebook, etc.), but also throws in new “social” features. The couple timer, for instance, uses face-detection technology to hold off on taking a picture until it “sees” two faces in the frame, while group timer won’t shoot until it senses the number of people you’ve specified (up to four). Unlike some blogger-baiting cameras, the Z200fd packs serious technological punch—with image stabilization, a 5x optical zoom, and a high-res setting that captures ten megapixel shots. It’ll start rolling out into retail stores this month, but Newegg’s got it right now in silver, pink, black, and black/red.
$299.99 at Newegg.com.
