The latest additions to the ever-expanding “Destination: Seoul” collection—lifestyle products from South Korea—at the MoMA Store combine three of our favorite product attributes: cool finishes, cuteness, and cheapness. A perfect example is the I.dear speaker. Just a little over one inch tall and designed to work with any MP3 player (or cell phone) that has a standard headphone jack, it recharges by plugging into the USB jack of your computer. That’s real wood, by the way (the marble version is faux), echoing a naturalist theme elsewhere in the collection, including the new-to-MoMA Wooden Pen and Pencil Set and the Wooden Blocks Rattle Set for infants. Most items are under $50 (click on the “MoMA Feature: Destination Seoul” link on the site’s homepage to see the full range, including some older handmade ceramics that we still love) and available in the U.S. exclusively at the MoMA Store.
$36 for the I.dear speaker at the MoMA Store ($32.40 for MoMA members).
