Years ago, hardware dealt with hammers, wrenches, and other things to throw at your boyfriend. Now hardware is for handbags, and it’s a very big deal. Balenciaga has its metals cast in custom molds. Gucci and Chanel have signature zippers. And Marc Jacobs took plates of gold and silver and fused them onto his must-have totes. But hardware makes handbags more expensive–and way heavier to carry–which is why we like this wallet from Urban Outfitters. Its metals reference the runway trend, but lugging it around won’t give you a hernia–and it won’t make your wallet lighter, either.
