The Wedding Album
Athena Avella and Victor Calderone

Whitefield Estate, Southampton
September 11, 1999

'We didn't want a conventional wedding. We knew we wanted something outdoors," says actress Athena Avella, whose gown was inspired by Audrey Hepburn's in Sabrina. She and Victor, a music producer, wrote their own vows and exchanged them on a long brick path on the mansion's grounds. Instead of Hamptons preppy, the décor was lush and Italian, with huge candelabras, velvet cushions, lace tablecloths, zebra-print rugs, and antique ceramic vases for the flowers. A Cuban band added a lively beat — and kept the guests on their feet.
