The Wedding Album
Annabel Fan and Douglas Hsieh
The Plaza Hotel
September 1, 2002
|When Annabel and Douglas first got engaged, they never expected to have a formal hotel reception. But as they began to consider the details—their families’ love of ballroom dancing, the number of guests (more than 300)—they realized a big-city hotel was the way to go. Still, they were keen on creating an intimate atmosphere by adding cultural and personal touches. Their shared background was celebrated with red Chinese lanterns brought in from China, and photos of their family and friends were scattered throughout the common area. Reception tables were named after cities their guests had traveled from. On a personal note, “we printed out a very flirty e-mail correspondence written at the beginning of our relationship,” says Annabel. “We hung it outside the ballroom for all to read.” The more private letters were left safely at home.||
