The Wedding Album
Lucy Weismann and James Veltri

Weismann Family Home, Sagaponack, L.I.
May 31, 2003

Inspired by the rich colors of India after seeing Monsoon Wedding, Lucy and James, both real-estate managers, wanted a lush and vibrant wedding. Their dream was realized at Lucy’s family home in the Hamptons, where the couple incorporated a cultural blend of both families’ backgrounds. Tables were named after different teas to celebrate her mother’s English heritage; dessert was a traditional Viennese pastry bar, recognizing her father’s Austrian ancestors. The flood of color continued with pink-and-red bridal-party outfits, matching table linens, and gold and silver shoes—all imported from India. Fruity punches like strawberry limeade and blueberry lemonade were served during the cocktail hour; party favors were Moroccan mint tea and natural honey from James’s family farm in Italy. The newlyweds did learn to be more careful about what they wish for: “During the reception, it was raining like a monsoon,” says Lucy. “But we were under the tent enjoying a night of dancing and celebration.”
