For just $80—less than a haircut at many salons—this top-of-the-line barbershop gives you a cut and a “royal shave,” the classic hot, straight-razor kind, but jazzed up with the Art of Shaving’s aromatherapy-based products. Turn it into a party by inviting your groomsmen, but be sure to book well in advance.

Bliss

19 E. 57th St., nr. Fifth Ave.
541 Lexington., nr. 49th St.
212-219-8970
blissworld.com

The fairly girly Bliss now offers two treatments designed just for men: an “Homme Improvement” version of the famous triple-oxygen facial ($150), and a “Manly-Cure” ($23) to soften cuticles. The Soho branch’s locker room includes amenities like heated containers for shaving cream and buckets of beer.

Faina European Day Spa

If you truly want to be pampered, treat yourself to the three-and-a-half-hour “executive” package: a steam shower, sea-mineral or peppermint body sugar scrub, European massage (a mix of Swedish and deep-tissue), European facial, paraffin hand treatment or manicure, plus a snack ($239). Or just get an hour-long aromatherapy massage, by yourself or with your bride ($95 each).

John Allan's

212-406-3000
46 E. 46th St., nr. Madison Ave.
212-922-0361
johnallans.com

Less a barbershop than a men’s club complete with a bar and billiards room, John Allan’s can’t be beat for comprehensive grooming. The standard “full service” includes a scalp-massaging shampoo, conditioning treatment, hot towel, haircut, manicure, and shoeshine, plus a beverage, all for $65

Lia Schorr Day Spa
686 Lexington Ave., nr. 56th St.
212-486-9670
liaschorr.com

Lia Schorr has been treating men’s skin since 1980, way before the metrosexual trend took off; she even wrote a book on the subject. Grooming for the Groom, which Schorr recommends a week before the wedding, includes a facial, paraffin hand treatment, manicure, and pedicure (around $140). Or bring two friends along and get facials, manicures, and pedicures (around $390).

Maximus Soho
15 Mercer St., nr. Grand St.
212-431-3333
2075 Merrick Rd., Merrick, N.Y.

The Soho branch of this Long Island–based chainlet provides all the services you’ll need, from basic manicures ($20) and pedicures ($40) to a more elaborate aromatherapy wrap and full-body massage ($155). Maximus even does haircuts and scalp treatments, but not shaves (although at the Merrick location, they do bring in a barber every weekend for grooms).

No matter which service you choose, you’re in for a unique experience at this North African–themed spa. The groom package—“Le Roi”—“anoints your temple” head to toe (two-person stone and reflexology massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, and herbal body wrap, $450). The bachelor parties are famous for the belly dancers and six-course Moroccan feasts.

nickelspanyc.com

Owned by the eponymous upscale French cosmetics company, this chic two-floor behemoth is the only spa in the city that caters exclusively to men. Get pretty much anything you want here, from massages ($55 and up) to a love-handle wrap ($95) and the standard facial ($55), manicure ($20), and pedicure ($25) hat trick.

Paul Labrecque Salon & Spa
At the Chatham,
171 E. 65th St., at Third Ave.
212-988-7816
paullabrecque.com

There’s a whole “gentleman’s salon” tucked into this branch, where you can get three kinds of hot shaves in old-school barber chairs, including the “Indulgent” option, which lives up to its name with eye and facial masks and a full-on head massage ($80). Throw in hairstyling, a manicure, a massage, and whatever else you might want, plus a glass of champagne ($200–$500 per person; reserve a month ahead).

Paul Molé
1031 Lexington Ave., at 74th St.
212-535-8461

Though there are six other shavers at this old-school-style barbershop, many customers will let only Lev Zavurov touch them with a razor. Famous for his technique, honed over some 30 years, he says the secret to a good shave ($29 and up) is in the preparation, which for him means steaming the skin before applying shaving cream, conditioner, and hot lather.

Stephen Knoll Hair Salons
625 Madison Ave., nr. 58th St., second fl.
212-421-0100
stephenknoll.com

For your starring moment, aim high: Knoll has worked with a host of A-list clients from Mick Jagger to Richard Gere. He helps grooms with everything from beard and mustache trims to pedicures and manicures and even eyebrow-corraling. The back room is available for small parties, so groom and groomsmen can make the pre-wedding haircut a moment of male bonding. A cut by Stephen is $175; cuts from the staff range from $85 to $125.
