Following in the footsteps of double-duty shopping-and-lounge spots like Fashion/Plate NYC, G Spa & Lounge, inside the Hotel Gansevoort (18 Ninth Ave., at 13th St.; 212-660-6733), is a spa by day and a bar by night. The sexy gray-and-red space offers salon treatments by Hiro Haraguchi, three treatment rooms for massages and facials, and sleek loungers for manicures (nonguests have to pay $35 for access to the locker and steam rooms and hydro-pools). At nine, Butter’s Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva bring in a D.J. and Japanese munchies from nearby Ono.
On March 3, J.C. Penney will open a 16,000-square-foot pop-up Manhattan store where shoppers can sample products and then order through online kiosks (1 Times Square, at 42nd St.). It pops down on March 26.
Lockes Diamantaires closed the Shops at Columbus Circle location and opened a storefront for glittery wedding baubles (683A Madison Ave., nr. 61st St.; 212-756-9912). And Calypso just opened a massive four-floor flagship (815 Madison Ave., nr. 68th St.; 212-585-0310).
