Merge Opening Ceremony’s cache of Next Big Thing designers with Partners & Spade’s scavenged oddities, and you get the fashion set’s most anticipated retail launch of the fall: Creatures of Comfort, the Nolita sister store to the ballyhooed five-year-old L.A. boutique, opening Tuesday. Helmed by owner-buyer Jade Lai, who has relocated to New York to oversee the project, the 2,300-square-foot shop stocks housewares, furniture, art, and globally sourced knickknacks. Lai’s most prized inventory, though, is cutting-edge fashion from rising design talents, several of whom (Rachel Comey, Tom Scott, Mary Ping) have created pieces exclusively for her New York debut (205 Mulberry St., nr. Spring St.; 212-925-1005).
