Dream Weaver

ShareThis

Anyone who has ever fantasized about inhabiting the Anthropologie catalogue will find a lot to love at rug wunderkind Aelfie Oudghiri’s new showroom (41 Varick Ave., nr. Harrison Pl., Ste. 401, Bushwick; 631-603-5574), open by appointment starting December 27. The 1,200-square-foot space—the first for the 26-year-old designer—houses antique, vintage, and contemporary weaves, including a thirties Persian-knotted Chinese pictorial ($432), a seventies Turkish prayer rug ($350), and virgin-wool carpets hand-woven by Morocco’s Beni Ourain people (prices upon request). Oudghiri’s own line, dubbed Aelfie, launches January 23 with op-art- and Arabic-calligraphy-inspired kilims (from $440).
