Watch a Supersized Drone Lift a Snowboarder Off a Mountain

No ski lift required.

After a historic snowstorm blanketed New York City last January, YouTube personality and walking, talking viral video Casey Neistat hit the streets of Manhattan on his snowboard, towed by a Jeep. This winter, he aimed higher with “HUMAN FLYING DRONE.”

“No one in the world sells a drone that can lift a human being,” the video explains. “So we built our own.”

In the Samsung-sponsored but mercifully non-shilly video, Neistat enjoys a sci-fi–inflected winter vacation in Finland (home to both Santa and plenty of IRL, non-magical reindeer) hitched to a truly massive, 16-propeller drone. He zips through the quiet, snow-covered streets in a North Pole–inspired ski suit, high-fiving delighted onlookers, to a soundtrack of “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and “White Christmas,” both of which feel equally fitting.

But that’s only the beginning of this Christmas miracle. The drone doesn’t just enable Neistat to defy the Grinch that is gravity and snowboard uphill, it actually lifts him off the mountain and flies him over buildings. Maybe this is how Santa gets on your roof in the first place.
