The 11 Best Men’s Sports Watches on Amazon, According to Hyperenthusiastic Reviewers

Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews and lots of ‘em) products and single out the most convincing. While we’ve written about pocket watches and a couple of cheap watches that look expensive, for both men and women, before, we’ve gone deep here on the best men’s sports watches you can find on Amazon. (Note that reviews have been edited for length and clarity.)

Best digital sports watch under $15

Casio F91W Digital Sports Watch
$10 at Amazon

4.5 stars, 2,803 reviews

“When I ran cross-country in high school, all my coaches and many of my fellow athletes wore this exact watch, for good reason. Now that I have one of my own, I can attest to its convenience and utility, especially for people who lead active lifestyles. Unlike many other sports watches, this one isn’t overly bulky or heavy; whether I’m doing laps on the track or cleans in the gym, this watch isn’t a hindrance to my movement in any way. The watch is also very simple. Setting it up takes only a few minutes. The buttons and their respective functions are very intuitive; I personally love the stopwatch and alarm functions the most, as they help me organize my workouts and my day, respectively. The resin strap is also very comfortable, unlike some metal straps that are chilly and hard to the touch. The strap, being both flexible and sturdy, feels comfortable on the skin, so much so that I literally never take this watch off (because I don’t have to). I’m so incredibly happy that I put in the money to buy this watch. Even though I’ve only had it for a few weeks, I love it to bits and will definitely recommend to others.”

Best analog sports watch under $15

Casio Men’s MQ24-7B2 with Black Resin Band
$10 at Amazon

4.3 stars, 1,820 reviews

“Laugh all you want, but this is my favorite watch. I have about 15 watches ranging from $65 to $150. This watch is actually my favorite. I can take it swimming, wear it to the gym, the beach. I can mow the lawn with it on, or I can wear it on a plane or a business trip. It’s a casual-looking watch; it’s super thin, and seemingly weighs nothing. You won’t even know it is there, and the band does not pull on my arm hair. The battery also outlasted my other watches. It’s a great watch, and I wouldn’t care less if it smashed into pieces, that’s the beauty of it. It’s cheap, and it’s amazing. You could buy a few of them just in case you lose or break one.”

Best sports watch with oversize face

Marathon by Timex Full-Size Watch
From $19 at Amazon

4.4 stars, 314 reviews

“Very functional watch. Display is easy to read both night and day, lightweight, the alarm loud enough to wake you, and the buttons are easy to manipulate, very affordable. If you are a cyclist or runner who wants an inexpensive watch with legible display, then this is it.”

Best sports watch with leather strap

Timex Men’s Expedition Field Chronograph Watch
$42 at Amazon

4.1 stars, 2,117 reviews

“I wanted a hardier watch that I could wear outdoors but that still looked nice enough to wear out every once in a while. Here it is! I’m very happy with this watch. It looks great, feels like it can take a beating, and is very inexpensive. At its MSRP price, you can’t find a better watch.”

Best watch for triathletes

Timex Men’s T5E901 Ironman Classic 30 Full-Size Black/Gray Resin Strap Watch
$36 at Amazon

4.6 stars, 866 reviews

“I’ve had this watch for several years. The band has never broken. I’ve competed in one mini-triathlon, two regular Tough Mudders, and two World’s Toughest Mudders. The watch has been through freezing-cold water, extreme heat, 15 feet underwater, and has yet to show signs of breaking. I’ve put the watch on and off thousands of times. The band has worked flawlessly. I don’t understand how the other reviews indicate that the band keeps breaking. They must be doing something ultraextreme that would cause the band to break.”

Best shock-resistant sports watch

Casio G-Shock Mud- and Shock-Resistant Watch
$60 at Amazon

4.3 stars, 558 reviews

“First off, I want to say I love G-Shocks. They live up to the promise of shock- and water-resistance. I have owned four watches in 12 years and they all have been great. To prove how tough the watches are to questioners, I will take it off, stomp it with my boot, throw it at a wall, and toss it in the air. Nothing happens. Works like a champ, and because of this, I have converted sisters, brothers, friends, children, and co-workers that the only way to go is G-Shock!”

Best waterproof sports watch

Luminox Men’s 3051 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark Watch
$199 at Amazon

4.3 stars, 426 reviews

“This watch is well-made and is a great sports watch. I use it to go surfing instead of my dive watch, so I don’t waste the dive watch’s battery. Stylish enough to go out with, too!”

Best dive watch under $50

Casio Men’s Sport Analog Dive Watch
$17 at Amazon

4.3 stars, 3,745 reviews

“My favorite watch. This watch is easy to read, even without my glasses. I used to be a scuba instructor and used the rotating bezel as a dive timer, but I find the bezel useful in many more ways. Head out on a hike, set the timer — I know if I am working hard, or dogging it. Put a cake in the oven, set the timer — keep an eye on its progress.”

Best dive watch under $200

4.7 stars, 161 reviews

“Actually fell in love with this timepiece in a gift shop on a cruise ship. I didn’t have much opportunity to ‘research’ the watch, and by the time we disembarked, I was wearing her proudly. What’s not to love about BN0151-09L?!? This was my first Eco-Drive, and so far I’m ecstatic. Build quality is solid. It’s not the lightest watch I own, and viewed from the side, it’s ‘thicker’ than your normal watch. Then again, it’s supposed to be a diver’s watch, up to 200 meters. I love the ‘matte’ finish, so it’s not too bright and not too reflective. The blue rubber strap takes some getting used to, but if you do a lot of diving, it’s great. It’s got plenty of length to wrap around a wet suit and certainly will fit a large wrist. As mentioned, it has a cool little decompression dive table printed on the band.

You will be hard-pressed to find similar build quality and luxury at this price point. I look forward to enjoying this timepiece for many, many years. What else is there to say?!? Get it! You will love it!”

Best fitness tracker with built-in watch

Fitbit Charge 2 Heart Rate + Fitness Wristband
$129 at Amazon

4.2 stars, 12,424 reviews

“Bought as a gift for my husband. He loves it! He likes to keep up with his heart rate and how much exercise he’s getting, so it has really been something he enjoys! It has replaced his favorite watch!”

Best smartwatch for athletes

Samsung Gear S3 Frontier
$350 at Amazon

4.4 stars, 1,688 reviews

“After trying many smartwatches — LG, Microsoft, Samsung — I have finally found one that does everything I needed it to do. Found a great golf app that works fabulous on the watch and doesn’t drain the battery. This watch will also track my bike ride, along with about 20 more exercises. The only thing I wish it could do would be able to track my time on my Rebounder.”
