54 Things on Sale Through Columbus Day: From Smythson to KitchenAid

Some of the best Columbus Day deals started last week, even if they weren’t billed as “Columbus Day sales.” Many sites are having Friends & Family sales, like Dermstore, Bloomingdale’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue, and still others are having fall sales through the weekend as well. Below, the 40-plus things we found, including some Marc Jacobs leather crossbody bags, J.Crew wool coats, DVF wrap dresses, and Smythson leather journals. Don’t miss our list of best skin-care deals (so many things we love are on sale) at Dermstore, too.

There’s something blazer-esque about this double-breasted topcoat — we especially love the contrasting buttons.

Splendid makes soft, casual shirts so good they’ve earned cult-like appeal. The price of the clothes is already approachable, but today they’re even cheaper.

The original glow-producing moisturizing cream. Sweetbitter author Stephanie Danler says it keeps her “flawless, luminous even, and not at all greasy.” Model and actress Hari Nef says putting it on is “like your face is having a meal.” And Strategist beauty writer Rio Viera-Newton says that “for cracked, dry, painful skin on your face or body, this product is everything.” A good time to stock up just as the weather gets cold and unforgiving.

If you, like writer Hermione Hoby, find it hard to resist mannish pajamas.

It’s a highly annoying feeling to be getting ready for an event, to have your clothes pressed and hair slicked back and put on your dress shirt only to realize you have nothing but mismatching bent plastic collar stays. These would be a godsend.

Do you have a gamer in your life? Or are you looking for an early Christmas gift? Just released last week: The Nintendo Switch Fortnite bundle (Select All called it the most popular game in the world), which is the same price as the standard Switch but with $45 worth of Fortnite in-game bonuses (including 1,000 V-bucks of Fortnite currency).

The crème de la crème of notebooks, now nearly 60 bucks cheaper. (It comes in black, too, and there are lots of other Smythson leather goods on sale at Saks, too, until Monday.)

An understated weekend bag with a clever little compartment for shoes (think dirty gym sneakers you’d want to separate from clothes or dress shoes for a wedding).

A 100-percent silk scarf from Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta that, yes, we would tie around our necks but also around the handle of a handbag or twice around the wrist.

A candle that smells like Champagne and would look just great as a pencil holder once you’re finished. Great hostess gift, too.

Patent mules by Maryam Nassir Zadeh — perhaps the unofficial patron saint of Bard graduates.

The athletic sneaker of the moment — we have them and they’re light as air.

A sophisticated gold watch with just the most understated dial.

Massively on-sale cat-eye glasses that are slightly unusual without going too nuts.

A deeply hued, slightly oversize wool coat that, if you squint hard enough, is almost Philo-era Celine.

Tortoise earrings — more of the tortoiseshell trend — in an unusual, almost trapezoidal shape.

A punchy little scarf to kick up your somber fall wardrobe.

A DVF wrap dress that looks like a DVF wrap dress from a mile away.

There’s a double slit on the hemline of this bias dress.

A slightly stretchy dress with repeating leaf pattern.

We love how the subtle tonal differences add dimension to a rather simple vertically striped dress.

A handsome black leather satchel that’s almost doctor’s bag-ish for under $100.

Our absolute favorite sofa-in-a-box (it even has USB chargers for your devices tucked between the cushions) for a hundred bucks off.

Are you looking for a vacuum that costs as much as two lunch salads?

And if you only have room for a hand vacuum, there’s always this tiny dust-buster.

A sleek leather bootie that looks much more expensive than it is.

The famed Wubbanub pacifier (a new mother in our baby shower gift guide called it “life-changing”) for 25 percent off.

The only name in stand mixers for serious bakers — and we’ve never seen it this cheap.

We’re a sucker for a leopard mule — it takes a plain jean and T-shirt to a dressed-up place.

Easy, effortless, and flattering: classic Eileen Fisher.

A cozy little textured cardigan with a drawstring you can cinch at the hem.

We love the iridescent sheen on this packable metallic raincoat.

$38

The legendary Frette bath towel at a not-so-legendary price.

An adorable (affordable) baby blanket adorned with alpacas — perfect when you’re stumped upon receiving that invitation to a baby shower or 1-year-old’s birthday party.

The Rolls Royce of silk pillowcases, this Slip silk pillowcase we wrote about last year as the best version recommended by dermatologists for preventing wrinkles and hair breakage.

We love the cozy pink stripes on this (highly discounted) peach duvet cover.

Just a little reminder that the Cosrx snail mucin essence isn’t the only thing on sale at Dermstore (see our favorite things here) — so is Rio’s absolute favorite blackhead power liquid. She says: “Typically, when I break out, I break out in blackhead zits around my chin — this keeps that in check.”

And the Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream, of which she says, “It’s super rich and truly one of the only moisturizers that I’ve found that goes deep into my skin and keeps it happy and nourished all day long.”

J.Crew Parke Blazer
$119

Because everyone needs a slim blazer in the closet — we like the trim lapels and sleeves on this one.

A very expensive-looking khaki trench coat without too many bells and whistles.

We couldn’t believe the price on this fitted dress, either.

You know those autumn days when it can go from toasty to chilly without any warning? This would be perfect for then.

Stripes on a T-shirt transcend seasons.

There’s something so sweet and modest about the short sleeves on this dress.

A totally classic, well-proportioned jean jacket that will never have you in 20 years going, “What was I thinking in that?”

We happen to think the contrasting panels around the shoulders make this jacket.

Because you need these as much in December as you do in July.

The classic ugly shoe we won’t be able to convince you to get if you’re not already onboard — if you are, move fast, because there aren’t many sizes left.

A great exercise sneaker, and a great travel shoe, incidentally.

A very luxurious-looking down coat with a guilt-free faux-fur collar lining.

A fancy-pants bag that does away with all the pretension.

We love the pebbly quality on the leather of this wallet. It’s like a fanny pack for someone who doesn’t want to go full fanny pack.
