Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews, and lots of ’em) products and single out the most convincing ones. We’ve been tracking down the best gear to keep you warm this winter, including men’s winter gloves and winter boots, throw blankets, even space heaters, and now we’re taking a deep dive into the best men’s slippers you can find on Amazon.

Best wool slippers

Glerups Model A Wool Slipper
From $95 at Amazon

“These slippers are worth every penny. I’ve worn them every day for nine months and they are still in excellent condition. I’ve been cycling through different slipper styles for years, but these will be my winners from here on out. Warm without overheating, thicker sole without being stiff, basic style that will never look bad.”

Haflinger Unisex AT Boiled Wool Hard Sole Slipper
From $97 at Amazon

“I have only ever worn shearling-lined slippers in the past and was super skeptical about these being able to keep my feet warm. However, my heel would always wear-down the shearling after a year and they would become uncomfortable to walk on. I’ve tried Ugg, Cabela’s, L.L.Bean — all the same. These keep my feet soooo warm! I think better than shearling. I also like the foot support these slippers give and the rubber-soled bottoms are going to last a long time. I highly recommend these slippers!”

Acorn Men’s Digby Gore Wool Slipper
$41 at Amazon

“I was looking for slippers without a lining of fur or fake fur because we live in the Phoenix area and that much warmth is not needed. These slippers are made of wool and keep [my husband’s] feet warm enough yet allowing them to ‘breathe’ and not sweat. The slippers can be hand-washed and air-dried, which is another feature that I like. He can slip them on without having to pull the slipper over his heal and his foot stays in the footbed well. I have ordered Acorn slippers for myself and son in the past and know from experience the quality of products from this company is top notch.”

Best sheepskin slippers

UGG Men’s Ascot Slipper
From $110 at Amazon

“It’s been a wonderful eight years with my UGG Ascot Leather Slippers on my feet. They fit well, keep my piggies warm, and I receive style compliments weekly. But I knew this day would come, and I finally have to replace my first pair due to a small tear in the leather toe. I bumped into my last coffee table and the well-oiled but aging leather couldn’t take another blow. I didn’t bother to shop around for another slipper, my UGG slipper served me well. My new pair felt too snug at first, but now that I’ve had them on for a few days, the fit is feeling really familiar. They are like an old best friend and a childhood pet rolled into one well-crafted piece of footwear. I’m looking forward to the next eight years with these on my feet.”

Acorn Men’s Sheepskin Bootie Slipper
From $24 at Amazon

“Worth every penny. Don’t even bother trying anything else. And don’t buy cheaper. It won’t be worth it. This is the best brand and as my hubster is hard on shoes of any kind, they are solidly made and hold up. Well constructed warm and super comfy. Last pair lasted for nearly ten years! Ten years is a loooooonnnnnng time for slippers!”

UGG Men’s Scuff Slipper
From $80 at Amazon

“I love these slippers. I don’t much care what people think of UGGs, they make a hell of a slipper. I got my wife a pair as well. They are warm, comfortable, and perfect for around the house.”

UGG Men’s Scuff Romeo II Slipper
From $100 at Amazon

“This is my second pair of these. My previous pair lasted a number of years, but was getting a little worn out. After trying new ones on I realized it was a night and day difference, and I can’t believe I waited so long to get them. Honestly I can’t recommend these enough. You might think they are a little expensive for slippers, but it is definitely worth it. I now use my old pair at work, and even though the inside is a little worn the outside still looks new. Also, so warm and comfy!”

Tamarac by Slippers International Men’s Highlander Shearling Slipper
$55 at Amazon

“Got them for my husband. He wears a 9.5, so I got a 10 since they only come in whole sizes, and they fit perfectly. Sheep-shearling lining is wonderfully soft and warm. Footbed is memory foam underneath the sheep shearling, which is super comfortable and warm. And, a bonus, you can flip the collars up, making them cover the ankles, and wear them outside because their soles are very substantial. This was another reason I picked them, as I wanted something that had appropriate soles for wearing outside when needed, and these are it. Truly a great pair of slippers!”

Best orthopedic slipper

Orthofeet Asheville Arch Support Orthopedic Leather Slippers
From $80 at Amazon

“The Orthofeet arrived and they are incredibly comfortable. The removable support is great, and if you have custom orthotics, you can swap them out. There is velcro on both the left and right sides of each foot, so you can remove your foot, adjust both sides a bit to get the right ‘tightness.’ I have worn them for a few hours each night and my feet feel great. The plantar support is great.”

Best slippers under $50

Minnetonka Men’s Double Bottom Fleece Slipper
From $50 at Amazon

“I bought a pair of these slippers in November 2012 for $47 and have worn them three seasons of the year, indoors, ever since. Writing in July 2018, I can say that absolutely nothing about them has gone wrong. The soles are nowhere close to starting to wear through, the lining is solid, the laces have not broken, none of the stitching is coming apart, the padding is still fine. I had bought (or had been given) slippers from department stores, and they never felt very good and they always wore out within a season or two. It is well worth the money to pay maybe twice the price for a pair of slippers like these. The only thing that bothered me about them was that they felt narrow when I first got them and they rubbed a bit, but somehow leather manages to adjust to your foot, and they have been perfectly comfortable after the first few weeks.”

Minnetonka Men’s Pile Lined Hardsole Slipper
$45 at Amazon

“They are snug at first, BUT having had my older pair for eight years now. I know how loose they will fit. All it takes is a short time breaking the lining in and working the leather out. I’m sorry — you just can’t beat these slippers. They are and always will be my favorite moccasin … These slippers come with a warm, fuzzy feeling that you get deep down in your soul. That happy feeling you will never lose when walking around in these mocs.”

Tarmarac by Slippers International Men’s Cody Sheepskin Slipper
From $44 at Amazon

“I’ve been buying these slippers for years. They’re more House Shoes than slippers, which I like. Warm, good traction, and easy to slip on and off. I was never a slipper guy until my wife bought me a pair of these Tamarac slippers about ten years ago. Since then, they’re all that I want to wear around the house in the cool months. I wear them out after a year or two, which is an acceptable lifespan in my opinion. They shoes themselves hold up well; it’s the inner sole and lining that wears down and stops providing adequate comfort. These slippers are great.”

Tamarac by Slippers International Men’s Scuffy Clog Slipper
From $40 at Amazon

“I buy these slippers for my Hubby and he just loves them. He wears them around the house and out into the yard on a daily basis. I usually need to replace them once a year or so since he wears them daily. He has rather large and wide feet as well and these actually come in his size and fit. I think we are on our firth pair by now and will continue to buy these so I hope they don’t stop making them.”

Acorn Men’s Moc with Premium Memory Foam
From $34 at Amazon

“I did a lot of research on slippers while looking for some for my husband. Everyone seemed to l love these, so I thought I would give them a try, even though he usually likes that moccasin look. When they arrived he was doubtful, but now cannot stop raving about them! The inside is really ‘cushy’ and the lining does not pull out every time you take them off, which is an issue he had with other slippers he has owned. The sizing was perfect. He wears a 10, so I bought the 9.5 to 10.5 size and it was perfect. When my slippers wear out I will definitely be buying a pair for myself!”

Acorn Men’s Slouch Boot Slipper
From $40 at Amazon

“Man these things are warm in the house. Have not had cold feet or ankles since I got these for the winter. The fit is as expected. Sturdy sole so you can go outside if needed without worrying about the bottoms getting damp from rain or snow. The sock material is very thick and the leather around the toe, sides and heels integrate nicely into the flat rubber sole. Also has a nice memory foam insole for comfort.”
