The Best Electric Kettles on Amazon, According to Hyperenthusiastic Reviewers

Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing. While we’ve written about coffee makers and machines, a foolproof coffee grinder, and a glass Japanese teapot, we’ve gone deep here on the best electric kettles you can find on Amazon. (Note that reviews have been edited for length and clarity.)

Best electric kettle under $20

Proctor Silex K2070YA Electric Kettle
$16 at Amazon

“I love this electric kettle! I use it three or four times a day to boil water for French-press coffee, oatmeal, tea, etc. It heats the water quickly, even when filled to the max level, and the auto-shutoff feature has never failed. The size is perfect, and the detachable cord is a huge bonus. I also feel it is sturdy enough. The light weight does not feel ‘cheap’ — it makes it easy to handle even when full. Well worth the money. You will not be disappointed!”

Best stainless-steel kettle under $25

AmazonBasics Stainless Steel Electric Kettle
$21 at Amazon

“I purchased this for use in a facility where a family member is recuperating. Figured it would save me trips to the coffee shop and pay for itself — rapidly. So far, I’d rate it better than expected. The water boils super fast, and when I say HOT, I mean hot. The unit will auto shutoff upon reaching the boil and it’s easily seen and heard. The appearance is clean and simple, reminiscent of an old-fashioned retro coffee percolator without the top. Handle is comfortable and capacity yields plenty. Loving it!”

Best cordless electric kettles under $50

Epica 6-Temperature Variable Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle
$42 at Amazon

“LOVE THIS KETTLE! If you’re a tea fanatic — especially if you love green or herbal teas — you NEED to try brewing your tea at the proper temperature!! Black tea can be brewed at the regular boiling temp, but green and herbal are slightly less (green at 175 and herbal at 200). It makes a HUGE difference!! Getting quality green and herbal tea is also a huge help, but even cheap green tea tastes SO much nicer when brewed at a lower temp. I primarily got this kettle for my morning cup of mate and it rocks. It’s not supposed to be brewed at higher than 185, so this kettle is perfect and makes my morning cup that much more delicious. Love the value of this kettle, too — great price point!!”

Secura 1.8 Quart Stainless Steel Electric Water Kettle Double Wall Cool Touch Exterior
$40 at Amazon

“How does a kettle make one happy? First of all, design. No plastic touches the water. In this day and age with concerns about manufacturing processes and chemicals leaching into us from every possible source, a fully enclosed stainless-steel boil-and-pour design is priority one, and the Secura delivers. Second, the cool outside. Kids use it and kids could burn themselves. Third, the pour spout is the only one I have ever used that doesn’t dribble hot water all over me, the counter, and anything else in the general vicinity. No spill at all. The boiling timer and auto shutoff work like a charm. And oh, yeah, it’s huge and boils very quickly, giving us enough hot water for a couple monster mugs of herbal tea with some to spare. Very, very pleased with this product.”

Best gooseneck electric kettles

Willow & Everett Electric Gooseneck Kettle for Pour Over Coffee and Tea
$36 at Amazon

“Love it, for what it is: a small, elegant, simple kettle. No adjustable thermostat, no ‘keep warm’ feature … just an on switch that automatically shuts off when the water boils. If you want bells and whistles, try something else, but if what you want is a simple, hopefully foolproof, and elegantly shaped electric kettle, this is the one. It’s got an especially nicely formed tip on the end of the spout; no drips, great control of where the water goes. Minimalist form and function — just what I wanted.”

Elementi Electric Gooseneck Variable Temperature Kettle
$80 at Amazon

“Love my little pot; have used it multiple times a day for a month now. Small enough to travel with me in my suitcase on business travel, so I have my herbal tea in my room. Perfect at home, too, and large enough to use with my French press. Works quickly and much quieter than all of my previous kettles. The spout is a work of art, and very functional, too, and places the stream of hot water just where you want it.”

Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Pour-over Kettle
$149 at Amazon

“I am so happy I purchased this amazing kettle! It is of high quality and craftsmanship! It is easy to use and has the best pour imaginable! The spout does not drip, and the amount of water that comes out during a pour is perfect! I love the hold feature — it keeps the water temperature where you need it after the first cup of coffee, or tea pour, so that the kettle does not have to start to heat over again. The design is well-thought-out and looks lovely on the kitchen counter! The kettle itself and the handle are perfectly counterbalanced. I wish I’d purchased this kettle a lot sooner! You will definitely be happy with the Fellow Stagg electric kettle!”

Best vintage-looking stainless-steel electric kettle

KitchenAid KEK1222PT 1.25-Liter Electric Kettle
$60 at Amazon

“This is a beautifully designed, well-made, back-to-basics kettle. I feel quite privileged to have something so elegant in my kitchen. It is a no-nonsense kettle: You put water in it, return it to its base, push a little lever down, and it boils your water (with a discreet white light near the switch to tell you it’s working), clicking when it’s done. No internet connection required, no fancy filters to change, no voice control or annoying beeps. It’s a kettle, pure and simple, which is all it needs to be.”

Best design-friendly ceramic electric kettle

Bella 1.2L Electric Ceramic Tea Kettle
$40 at Amazon

“Wow, this is even prettier in person! I’m so happy I gave it a shot. I almost didn’t … I mean, how difficult is it to fill a standard stove-top kettle to boil some water? And I was worried about cluttering my counter. But this baby really is so easy to use, and bonus, there’s no annoying whistling or forgetting to turn the stove off. And bottom line: It’s MUCH faster. By the time I’ve got my tea bag ready, the water’s done. Plus, it looks awesome on my counter and works with my blue-and-white décor. It’s ceramic, so it’s a tad bit heavier than a plastic unit, but I don’t care, it’s no heavier than a full tea kettle. And pouring from the longer spout is easier to control. It’s as functional as it’s lovely, which makes up for the little bit of heft. I prefer it over plastic any day.”

Best glass electric kettle

Mueller Austria Glass Electric Kettle Water Heater With SpeedBoil Tech
$30 at Amazon

“First, it’s got some weight to it, considering how light the base is. It holds a lot, almost like an old coffee pot. But this is not old; it’s BEAUTIFUL! The lid opens when you push the button, sorta like a nice cassette player. To turn it on, you flip a nice switch in the handle. It immediately lights up with a pretty blue light around the bottom of the pot. It makes a swirling sound, and within minutes, the sound disappears as the water starts to boil. And this thing really boils. It doesn’t whistle, but it stops, on its own. Absolutely no splash or overboiling. If I feel like more tea, I flip the switch, and in seconds, it reboils. To be honest, it looks and works like something that should cost more. I highly recommend this! I LOVE IT, AND SO WILL YOU!!!”

Best small electric kettle with swivel base

T-fal BF6138 Balanced Living 4-Cup Electric Kettle
$31 at Amazon

“I absolutely love this little kettle. I have had it for a few months now and use it daily to make tea in the morning and in the evening. It’s the perfect size to make a cup of tea for myself or even a few friends. Another big plus is the adjustable temperature that makes it great for making not-too-hot chocolate for my kids. It’s cute and fits nicely on the counter. I like that it swivels on the base, so the handle on the pot and cord on the base can be in different directions if it’s convenient. It heats the water quickly and has not had any problems.”

Best travel-friendly electric kettle

Gourmia GK320 Travel Foldable Electric Kettle
$27 at Amazon

“I really didn’t expect it to be as good as its description, but it was, and in so many ways. Lightweight, compresses small enough to pack when traveling, folds out to hold just enough water to make my large mug of morning coffee, and it comes to a boil quickly — no time to grump, ‘Hurry up, I need my coffee.’ I recommend this little kettle to anyone who travels and only has so much luggage space. Who knows, it might even leave enough room to also pack a little bag of your own brand of coffee, or tea bags, or hot chocolate, or hot apple cider, or cup of soup … or?”

Best electric water boiler

Zojirushi CV-DCC40XT VE 4-liter Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer
$170 at Amazon

“This machine is pure magic, and definitely the appliance I miss the most when I leave home. It’s only good for one thing (hot water, obviously), but man oh man does it do that one thing well. The beauty of this model is that it is always-on, and it uses just a tiny amount of electricity since the whole thing is vacuum insulated. Having instant hot water at just the right temperature makes drinking tea the easiest beverage choice, and now we are all hooked. Buy it, you won’t regret it, if you drink tea occasionally today but feel like you might drink more if it was just a little easier, this thing will change your life.”
