23 Things on Sale You’ll Actually Want to Buy: From Madewell to Embryolisse

When I think about St. Patrick’s Day, the word sales isn’t the first (or second … or third …) word that springs to mind. This year, however, I was surprised to find that many retailers are offering discounts all weekend long to celebrate. Some deals are sitewide, like at Act+Acre and Ruggable, and SkinStore, while others are sales on top of already-discounted products, like at Anthropologie, Ban.do, and Madewell. As always, make sure to sign up for our email newsletter for even more sales coverage.

Bye-bye, TP: This on-sale bidet attachment may be installed easily without the help of a plumber, has a control dial to adjust the dual nozzles, and, thanks to the power of Amazon Prime, will be at your doorstep in no time.

Our best-in-class smart garden lets you harvest homegrown herbs at the touch of a button — all you have to do is pop in seed pods (it comes with six) and water it when the planter reminds you.

With this chemistry set, kids can craft farting slime, a jar full of eyeballs, and fake vomit — all in the name of science! The kit comes with all the supplies they’ll need for 15 yucky yet fun experiments, as well as a guide for 30 more experiments that they can try with common household items.

Kitsch is having a sitewide sale on its line of Strategist-beloved hair towels and scrunchies, but we found select colorways for even cheaper over at Amazon. Hairstylist Marie Elizabeth finds this microfiber towel effective at reducing hair breakage, particularly if you have fine hair.

This weekend, Madewell is giving Madewell Insiders — which is a totally free account you only need an email to sign up for — 25 percent off everything That includes already-on-sale pieces like this breezy ikat mini dress, which is still only $66 if you don’t have an account.

Also at Madewell, here’s an adorable pajama tee that’s shockingly — given the price point of $7 (!) — still available in sizes extra-extra small through extra-extra large.

Urban Outfitters has discounted a selection of spring-break-ready apparel and accessories by 30 percent. The men’s section has a cache of nice band tees and baseball hats for casual kickbacks.

A treasure trove of Strategist-approved skin-care products is 25 percent off at SkinStore with the code LUCKY through Monday night. Makeup artists everywhere swear by this French moisturizer (that’s suitable for all skin types) as a flawless primer for makeup.

Strategist contributor Sadie Stein has called this “intoxicating” multipurpose oil “the best beauty product in the world.” The concoction of Vitamin E and plant oils — camellia, hazelnut, borage, St. John’s Wort, sweet almond, and macadamia, to be exact — can be used as a post-shower body moisturizer for baby-soft skin, as a bath oil, and even to tame eyebrows and flyaways.

Thousands of already-on-sale items at Anthropologie are an extra 30 percent off this weekend, no code needed. This adorable pointelle sweater has a very sweet bow detail on the back.

This is your sign to replace all the claw clips you’ve “misplaced.”

Ban.do is also offering an extra 30 percent off clearance items with the code 30MORE. I’m eyeing this supremely on-sale pair of distressed Wrangler jeans.

Here’s a cheery bento box to brighten up your lunch hour. (If you prefer a squashy tote, a similarly-designed bag is also on sale.)

Act+Acre is offering 20 percent off sitewide through Monday night. The brand’s sulfate-free hair cleanser has made an appearance on several of our best-in-class guides, and is our top shampoo pick for oily and/or fine hair. Gregorio Ruggeri of Salon Ruggeri says it “helps nurture the growing process” because the formula includes rosemary, vetiver, lavender, and amaranth oil, all of which promote healthy hair follicles by strengthening and moisturizing hair strands from root to tip.

If you don’t want to commit to a full-size bottle, I recommend buying this travel kit. In addition to a set of TSA-friendly shampoo and conditioner, you also get the brand’s microfiber hair towel, which I’ve been obsessed with since I purchased it a two years ago.

Over at Food52, select already-on-sale items are an extra 20 percent off with the code SPRING through March 28. This silicone-coated stainless steel dish drying rack from Food52’s in-house line can be rolled up when not in use, and is available in slate blue, gray, and white (note that white is $10 cheaper than the other two colors).

Several Strategist staffers (myself included) love this cutting board from Food52’s in-house line, Five Two — so much so that it’s made our best-in-class cutting board list as well as the Strategist Kitchen 100. Available in three sizes, it’s surprisingly lightweight, has a moat (which is delightfully described as a “juice groove”) and pour spout to catch and release liquids, and even has a slot to prop up your phone.

If you prefer to chuck your cutting boards straight into the dishwasher, buy some of Material’s reBoards during its birthday sale. I own several of the minis, but am considering an upgrade to the full-size option, which we named our favorite overall cutting board.

We named Ruggable’s machine-washable rugs the best overall after receiving glowing reviews from Strategist staffers and interior designers alike. Use the code SPRING23 to take 20 percent off Ruggable’s spring collection — which includes this Iris Apfel design from her second, jungle-themed collection with the brand — or 15 percent off everything else.

If you’re looking for a neutral option, this plush rug is a good pick, too. Haleema Shah, a producer of the podcast Today, Explained and a mom, reports that the white rugs she has always brightens up noticeably in the wash.

If you’ve got travel plans on the horizon, Paravel’s best-in-class totes and duffel bags are 25 percent off with the code SPRINGBREAK. Yolanda Edwards, founder of YOLO Journal travel magazine and the former creative director of Condé Nast Traveler, tells us that the brand’s Weekender is very functional for flying: “It has a handy strap for slipping onto my suitcase handle, and if I’m lazy, even just the built-in handles will work for that.”

Paravel’s stylish dog carrier is a favorite of fashion designer Rachel Zoe, who says the “super-spacious” tote can fit her pup, a few toys, a harness, and a leash. Plus, you can get it monogrammed with your fur baby’s name for $45.

Our overall best standing desk was originally recommended to us by several of our colleagues at the Verge, including deputy editor Dan Seifert. He says the Jarvis Standing desk is a “comfortable, stable, spacious desk that has more versatility than typical desk options.”

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
