What Amanda de Cadenet Can’t Live Without

If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair, but the hand sanitizer and the electric toothbrush. We asked Girlgaze founder Amanda de Cadenet about the face moisturizer, lip balm, and Birkenstock sandal she can’t live without.

I love these in white. I am often running around like a crazy woman, so at least with these sandals, I can do so comfortably. I am probably due for an update soon, as the white tends not to stay so clean for long, but I like that it goes with most of my vintage floral dresses, which I wear religiously, and in the L.A. weather, they are pretty much weather-appropriate all year round.

I love all Goop products, but I’ll always have the Revitalizing Day Moisturizer on my desk at work or in my handbag. I don’t wear makeup during the day, so I pretty much use the moisturizer as a replacement, applying it liberally to keep my skin bright and hydrated. I love that it is mostly organic content and made with certified organic ingredients, too. And I love that my clever friend developed it.

With the combination of spending a fair amount of time on planes, having twins that go to elementary school, and generally living a lifestyle that is pretty high-stress, I have been known to run myself down quite easily, so I am pretty much a petri dish for germs, colds, and flus. I try and take liquid vitamin C to make sure that I do as much as I can to protect myself from getting run-down and catching something that is lurking.

I love this product because it’s so easy to wear from day to night, not too over-the-top, but still packs a little punch, and easily kept in my handbag for any last-minute press moments, where I have to be camera-ready. Also, talking is a very important aspect of my line of work, and I like to make sure people are paying attention to what I am saying … Read. My. Lips.

Honestly, I don’t know what they put in those bubbles, but if we don’t have boxes and boxes of this on hand at our Girlgaze house in Silver Lake, I tend to become a little irate. And it’s not just me, but ALL of the ladies in the Girlgaze house are nutty for it. At least it’s a healthy alternative to any soda, though, so I am happy to drink this in abundance. Honestly, how do we get a lifetime supply?

My Mophie charger … in baby pink, of course. In order to live on your phone, you need to make sure your phone doesn’t die. This charger has helped me through thick and thin. I am sure you can get those battery phone cases, but I am too attached to the old stickers on my phone cover, so the old-school charger pack is my go-to.

And for some shameless self-promotion, I don’t think I could live without the book I just released. I think it will resonate not only with women but also with men, especially at this crucial point with the most recent events in Hollywood. These issues that face women are not just Hollywood issues, but societal ones. My objective with the book was to start a discussion about my experiences in the hope that it encourages other women to do so, too.
