The Best Beach Carts on Amazon, According to Hyperenthusiastic Reviewers

Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy (like pillows), but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews and lots of ‘em) products and single out the most convincing. We’ve written about the best accessories for the beach like umbrellas, tents, coolers, and chairs, but now you need a way to take everything with you. Below, you’ll find the best beach carts that’ll make your summer schlepping a breeze. (Note that reviews have been edited for length and clarity.)

“I take this everywhere I go whenever I don’t want to take my stroller. Perfect for long walks in the park, beach, or theme park. I also used it to rock my baby to sleep at home. I use it to store toys in his room when we’re not using it. Comes with two seat belts on each end. My son shares a ride with his little cousins sometimes. I use a changing pad on it with a fitted sheet for padded comfort on long rides.”

“I was able to fit everything, which included my cooler, eight-inch umbrella, beach bag (packed with pillow, towels, reading materials, hats, BeachBub, sand shovel), my queen-size comforter, which goes under everything on the sand, and my large folding lounger, and still had room for many more items, if I would have had others with me. It did require some energy to pull it through the fine, dry sand, but it was easily doable. No small thing, considering I’m a tiny, 60-plus-year-old granny! The wide back wheels roll quite well when pulling your load to your daily square of beachfront real estate.”

“I was unsure if this was worth the money to carry stuff to the beach. We went to Ocean City last year and my wife and I struggled to carry all our stuff. Since our kids are under 6, we had to carry everything. We saw other people using this device and thought we should get one for this year. I honestly thought this would be too bulky to store in the truck and would take up too much room, but I was wrong. It folds down to about seven inches thick and is easy to open and close. The price is well worth it. Even though our hotel is on the boardwalk and we only have to walk about 100 yards to reach the water, this thing makes it much easier. We had about 60 pounds of stuff and it pulled easy. With my back issues, this will be going with us every vacation now.”

“This little wagon made our beach trip a totally different experience. Other people had wagons with the thin, gripped wheels, and they ended up bogged down in soft sand. This wagon is made with wide, smooth wheels, with two narrow front wheels that glide over even the softest sand. As much as I love the beach, walking through soft sand is a workout, and dragging chairs, coolers, blankets, beach bags, body boards, etc. can really be a hassle that is physically exhausting. Our beach trip was hassle-free.”

“Took this wagon to the beach today and it was better than we expected based on the other reviews. We didn’t have it in super-deep sand, but it did AMAZING over the one to two inches of loose sand we traveled through. No dragging! We loaded up a Pack ‘n Play, cooler, pop-up canopy, and diaper bag. This is seriously the best wagon available. It folds up very small and has a stowaway cover. This is a VERY well made wagon. It’s not super light, but it’s sturdy, and the wheels give it a smooth ride.”

“One of my best purchases of the year. I am a (family) photographer and need to schlep gear as well as props to all kinds of locations (middle of the desert, farms, parks, orchards, city), and this wagon perfectly packs up into my car and sets up and holds everything I need to wheel around with me. I love the height of the bottom (it feels higher than other wagons, so I don’t have to bend over too far to reach things), and I love the whole overall design. Well-built and user-friendly. My family also uses it at the beach (the wheels are made for sand) or to go to the Little League field or a picnic. This thing carries an insane amount of stuff, even with kids sitting on top of it all.”

“I researched and researched different wagons and read reviews trying to find one that would work best on the sand, for a beach trip. This wagon is a winner for sure. Pulls very easily on dry or wet sand! It was perfect for unpacking things from our car to take the the beach condo, groceries to take back in, and bringing all of our beach items to and from the beach. Will for sure be using for other things, but is definitely a must-have for a family on a beach trip!”

“I couldn’t wait to try this thing out at the beach. I filled it with four beach chairs, towels, beach gear, tent, cooler, and a few other things. It was packed about three feet over the top. Pulling it along the soft sand was a breeze. I passed several other people pulling small-wheel wagons struggling across the sand, some tipping over. Not this one! The beach was crowded, so I had to weave in and out around others, and it turned nicely without tipping. It rolled over the sand with ease. I didn’t think I would care about the table, but it is quite convenient actually and the cup holders are handy. We packed up at the end of our day, and jammed even more stuff in the wagon, and trekked about 100 yards over the soft sand back to the car. It folded back up with zero effort, and the strap holds it in the folded position, which is nice. The quality, stability, and capacity were important to me, but mostly the large wheels are the differentiator because they actually work in soft sand.”
