Rihanna, As It Turns Out, Makes the World’s Comfiest, Most Supportive Bra

During early quarantine, I wore my Girlfriend Collective sports bras around the house often. But I discovered quickly that they didn’t look great underneath the button-ups I’d throw on for Zoom calls (the neck is too high) — and as the weather warmed up, I found the thick, tight elastic felt slightly suffocating.

I was complaining about this in a group chat when a pal (who happens to have above a D cup, like myself) insisted I try the Racerback Bralettes from Rihanna’s lingerie brand Savage by Fenty. “They feel heavenly,” she said, “and they keep everything in place all day.” This didn’t shock me: Savage is a known treasure trove for comfortable and affordable bras. Its Unlined Microfiber Demi Cup Bra is one of my favorites for running errands (the underwire is supportive without digging into my chest). But I’d shied away from the Racerback Bralettes in the past: It’s wide, racerback straps, I’d assumed, would make the bra impossible to wear under my blouses and dresses. And the plunging neckline looked like it would produce spillage.

But I trust my friend — she knows how tricky it is to find supportive bras — so I ordered the Bralette. And 30 minutes after I put it on my body, I purchased three more. Even though I wasn’t blown away by how it looked on the site, in person it’s easily one of the most flattering bras I own. In real life it’s lacy in a nice way, genuinely pretty on, and keeps my chest lifted (but not too lifted). Better yet, it keeps everything firmly in place without necessitating any adjustment or intervention, whether I’m lounging on the sofa, running to the grocery store, or going on speed walks around the neighborhood. When wearing it, I feel like I don’t have a bra on at all — not a sensation those of us with large chests get to experience too often.

I’ve recommended this bra to a few of my big-chested friends, all of whom have reported back that they adore it as much as I do. And a few of my B- to C-cup friends who prefer supportive undergarments have told me they have also fallen in love with it. From which I’ve deduced: For anyone who likes their chests to feel hugged, but not stifled, this is basically the platonic ideal of a bra.
