Peter Berley Out at Broadway EastFormer Angelica Kitchen chef Peter Berley is out and Lee Gross, formerly of L.A.’s M Cafe de Chaya, is in at Broadway East. What could have occasioned this garden transplant, so close to the opening of the place? Bullfrog and Baum’s Helen Baldus tells us that it was “just not a good match” and that the sides parted amicably. Or did Berley talk himself out of a job in a recent telling Time Out interview?

Novelist Porochista Khakpour Drinks the Kool-Aid at a Hare Krishna Temple In Porochista Khakpour’s debut novel, Sons and Other Flammable Objects, a coming-of-age story that may make its Iranian-American author the next Zadie Smith (the Times Book Review, Radar, and Paper are planning profiles), Khakpour, who grew up in Los Angeles before moving to New York, describes the exasperation of stern father Darius Adam at discovering that his wayward son Xerxes keeps little more than Fruity Pebbles in his Manhattan apartment. “Xerxes offered potato chips,” the passage goes, “which his father looked at as if he had never seen a Pringles can before, awestruck at his son’s supposedly adult living conditions.” Given that the novel is loosely autobiographical, we wondered about the living (and dining) conditions of the young novelist.

Model Agyness Deyn Is No Longer Weirded Out by Pancakes With Scrambled Eggs Agyness Deyn — a Manchester, England, native who is the face of Armani and who last month appeared on the cover of Vogue when the magazine named her one of “The World’s Next Top Models” — got tired of crossing the pond for work and, as of a few weeks ago, is now a full-time New Yorker. It has taken some adjustment: “It kind of freaked me out at first how much everyone eats out,” she says. “At home we’d go out for food one night on a weekend. Here I’m eating out every single meal. It’s really bizarre.” To find out just how bizarre, we asked her to recount everything she’s eaten recently.

Model Missy Rayder Drinks Garlic and Eats ‘Dragon Bowls’Missy Rayder, currently featured in Gap’s khaki ads, isn’t sweating the whole “skinny models” thing: She grew up in Wisconsin eating McDonald’s and microwaveable cheese-filled hot dogs. Her tastes were refined after she moved to New York City at the age of 16: “I switched a long time ago from my days of drugs to food.” Of course, that doesn’t mean she’s staying home cooking. “My stove doesn’t even work. I don’t think I’d be a very good wife.” Nevertheless we let her seduce us with tales of superlative brisket (fed to her while Terry Richardson photographed her for Uniqlo) and the best French fries in the city.
