The Long Hand of the Trumps Slaps Madame Tussauds Right in Her Wax Face

Ivana Ivanka
In the most hilarious press release we've received all week, today we learned that Ivanka Trump actually doesn't send nail polish to Madame Tussauds weekly to spruce up the wax mannequin in her likeness. We can only imagine the nasty personal phone calls that the Donald made to some poor executive at Tussauds in order to cause them to squeak out this apology. They probably involved a lot of scathing sarcasm and scowling head bobs that you could just hear through the phone. Below, the statement:
Madame Tussauds New York would like to set the record straight. On Friday, the Daily News called and was inadvertently given incorrect information by a Tussauds employee. Unfortunately, the employee thought the Daily News was asking about a different figure. Madame Tussauds New York does not in fact have a figure of Ivanka Trump... yet. We apologize for the confusion. Madame Tussauds loves the Trumps and is very proud of its figures of Donald and Ivana Trump, as well as its more than 200 lifelike figures.
OH MY GOD — are they saying Ivana Trump is sending nail polish for her wax likeness at the museum? That's even better!

Temporary Hold on Trump Soho After New Accident Doesn't Appease Foes

Trump Soho
The much-maligned Trump Soho can’t seem to get it right. Just two months after a construction worker died after a catastrophic on-site fall, which grounded the condo project for weeks, work was again stopped by the city over the weekend after yet another accident. Glass panels came crashing down the condo-hotel on Saturday, “knocked loose by a chain attached to construction equipment on the 26th floor,” according to the New York Sun. Unsurprisingly, critics of the project are quick to pounce on this recent snafu. “It seems like no matter what happens, [the project] at most just gets a temporary delay. But the city just lets them continue ahead. You'd think in light of the recent fatal accident, the developers and construction company would be extra safe and extra careful,” says Andrew Berman of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, which is challenging Trump Soho on the grounds that the permits to build it shouldn’t have been issued by the city in the first place. “This project never should have been allowed in the first place, and if they cannot run their construction site safely, it should be shut down.” In response to the incident, Mayor Bloomberg has vowed to tighten construction safety and oversight on developers, but until all construction on Trump Soho stops for good, its vehement opponents are unlikely to be satisfied. — S. Who's your favorite New Yorker, living or dead, real or fictional? Juliet: My mom is my favorite living New Yorker. She grew up in Closter, New Jersey, but moved to New York City immediately after graduation to study acting. She moved to Miami after meeting my dad in the late sixties. Things came full circle, and now she’s back in the area. She always had such cool stories of her city days, acting at Neighborhood Playhouse and American Academy of Dramatic Arts and singing at places like the Living Room. I always thought New York had a magical appeal to it, and it’s totally because of her. Mike: Jimmy Breslin.

Melania Is Getting a Wild(enstein) Look in Her Eye

Melania Trump Jocelyn Wildenstein
We've always sort of thought that Melania and Donald Trump looked like one another. Not in their facial structure, per say, but they both do this Sports Illustrated–swimsuit-model pose for pictures, where they squint their eyes and open their mouths a little bit. It's like they just burped during sex and are trying to blow it away or something, without ruining the moment. But now we're sad to say that Melania is beginning to look a little bit more like someone else these days. Granted Melania is still stunningly beautiful and has a long way to go before people start calling her a "cat woman." But there's definitely something going on with her eyes there that is beginning to look a bit too familiar. Day Six at the Tents

The Donald Hands Out Mints at Michael Kors

There is something comforting about walking into a show and finding Donald Trump already seated and looking resplendent in the front row, as we discovered Wednesday morning at Michael Kors. The Donald was, of course, accompanied by wife Melania and spent most of the show sharing a running commentary with her, patting her leg, and passing out mints to the people around him.

The Donald Sued for $4 Billion

Donald Trump hair
Donald Trump is getting hit with a lawsuit for a whopping $4 billion in Las Vegas. The plaintiff, Nights at Vegas, Inc., is a licensed management company that handles the leasing of many properties in the Donald's new Trump International Hotel & Tower. According to legal papers obtained by TMZ.com, their complaint is that the real-estate mogul, who runs a competing leasing organization for units in the building, won't let them use his own name in order to market the rentals. In other words, they can't use the Trump brand to drum up interest. Trump's own leasing agency charges owners more (50 percent of rental income, as opposed to the 20 percent that Nights at Vegas charges), which put it at a disadvantage without the no-branding rule. Still, both the suit and Trump's marketing mandate come as a surprise. This may officially be the first time in history the Donald has ever asked people to stop saying his name. Trump Soho Victim Had Wife, Kids. Project Was Under Investigation for Code Violations.

Trump Soho Damage
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer just released a statement on this afternoon's accident at 246 Spring Street, the site of the Trump Tower hotel, where a bucket of wet cement crashed into the building's scaffolding on the 40th floor, killing a worker, a married father from the Ukraine named Yuri, according to the New York Post and injuring several others. Some have noted that the tower had been going up a little too quickly, and from the statement it seems as though that had something to do with today's events.
The accident at the new hotel at 246 Spring Street is another example of the dangerous conditions created by rushed construction in Manhattan. My office did an initial investigation of violations at the site and discovered that there were two Class A violations issued on October 26, 2007. These violations are considered high risk. However, the construction was allowed to continue unchecked and the Environmental Control Board hearing to review the violations was not scheduled until January 24, 2008. This is unacceptable. The death and injury of construction workers and the compromised safety of emergency responders and surrounding community should not be considered the cost of doing business in Manhattan.
The property's owner Donald Trump has yet to issue a statement. ONE DEAD IN TRUMP SOHO BUILDING COLLAPSE [NYP]
