Anderson Cooper joked that he admitted to getting minor skin-cancer surgery under his eye so that people wouldn't think he got into a fistfight with Charlie Rose.
Paris Hilton cannot escape ridicule. At New Delhi Fashion Week, Geisha Designs poked fun at the socialite with a line of eveningwear that "sought to capture the 'haughty self-display' among the elite." And instead of showing with traditional format where vamping models merely stomp about with frozen faces, the Geisha models strutted the runway as if it were a red carpet:
Okay, so we know everybody's been skeptical of the much-touted love affair between Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford (have they ever been seen together more than twice?). But now that there might be another girl in the picture, we're a little bit worried. According to the blog Faded Youth (which must be reliable because it has pictures of Rumer Willis on it), Mary-Kate Olsen may have her eye on the sexy star of the Greatest Show of Our Time. She spent Wednesday evening chatting with him at the Waverly Inn and then met up with him later at Lit. It's probably nothing, but it still doesn't look good. Chace is all blue eyes and innocence and hairspray. If he starts dating M-K, suddenly he's going to be unshaven and haggard, wandering the streets clutching grande latte in a paper cup and looking sweaty. And then he might do something awful like get stolen by Paris Hilton and move to L.A. to go to places like Hyde and start hanging out with Wilmer Valderamma. Or worse. Don't do it, Chace! We promise we'll start believing in your relationship with Carrie Underwood. Everyone, believe with us. Clap! For the love of God, start clapping!

Paris Hilton has found a magazine willing to run a photo spread of her. She appears in this month's 944 wearing very skimpy, very tacky outfits, if you can even call them "outfits." Apparently Hilton has "shak[en] the party girl image," which the photos clearly indicate.

Observer prepmaster general David Foxley will now be the person to call to get reservations at the Waverly Inn. Billion-heiress Anna Anisimova slept at her mother's place on Tuesday, which is a good thing because a 400-pound Venetian chandelier collapsed and fell fifteen feet onto the bed at her own place. MSNBC accidentally flashed a graphic of Osama bin Laden as host Chris Matthews was discussing Barack Obama. Robert John Burck, a.k.a. the Naked Cowboy, says he has high-profile investments. Hey, have you noticed how the celebrity supply in New York has been depleted these past few days? (Thankfully, we still have Tom Brady wearing a boot in the West Village.) It's because all of the actors and directors are at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. But it seems like even in the celebrity fustercluck that is Park City right now, planners still can't get enough star power to fuel their events. Apparently, Sundance schedules are so jam-packed with appointments, parties, and swag-suite visits that it's no wonder they don't make half the events they (well, their publicists) say they will.
Of course, some no-shows you can see coming: Robert De Niro and Quentin Tarantino "expected" at a dinner for 50 Cent sponsored by VitaminWater? Um, sure. And we look forward to seeing Paris at the poetry reading.
Paris Hilton is, of course, the living embodiment of everything cinephiles hate about Sundance. She doesn’t even have a movie in the festival, for one: She says she’s promoting her new flick, The Hottie and the Nottie, which one critic friend of ours described as “as close as you can get to straight-to-DVD without being straight-to-DVD.” More likely, though, she's here to get paid (as the gossip columns claim) to show up at parties, including one thrown this weekend by the folks behind NYC club Stereo, which she fled from in tears before they could get their money’s worth. In a more private moment, she made out with also inexplicably famous Simon Rex at 5WPR’s Escape Mansion, deep in Deer Valley — apparently forgetting, according to a publicist we know, that she’d done the exact same thing at Sundance four years ago, at a Motorola party.
Diane Sawyer interviewed Katie Holmes on Good Morning America yet neglected to ask her about the rumor that she was impregnated with L. Ron Hubbard's sperm. New York Giants Plaxico Burress, Antonio Pierce, and Ruben Droughns went to Home nightclub in Manhattan after flying back from Dallas and ordered $1,000 of Bacardi, vodka, and Champagne, but forgot to tip their waitress. Waiters at Brasserie 44 in the Royalton Hotel thought they discovered Frank Bruni's notebook, but it turned out to belong to someone else (and they slipped in some Bruni ass-kissing to boot!). Keith Olbermann's quote to Playboy that "Fox News is worse than Al-Qaeda" did not go over well with many of the magazine's readers.
