'2 Broke Girls' is showing signs of strength, but 'Person of Interest' isn't building on what a fading 'CSI' did last year.
'The X Factor' stabilizes, but 'Charlie's Angels' gets off to a weak start.
"We were struggling to get it written, and at some point it got put on a back burner."
Also, half the new shows have 'Lost'-inspired plots, characters, or settings.
Only five new shows for the fall, but they tested well, and CBS is already playing from a position of strength.
While still on top, CBS still needs new breakout hits to replace its aging procedurals.
Perhaps CBS isn't so un-hip after all.
