The Jews of New York, the PBS documentary we wrote about last week, was on the other day (it will air again Thursday at 9 p.m. on Channel 13) and it was as good as we had hoped. One highlight, included here for your viewing pleasure, is an extended interview with Anne Russ Federman and Hattie Russ Gold, the two surviving daughters from Russ & Daughters, talking about the Lower East Side back in the day. Janet Is a Part of the Fedora Nation

It doesn't make us proud, but we couldn't help ourselves: So much has been made in the tabloids of Janet Jackson's fluctuating weight that when we first saw her at show, we did a quick check to size up which salacious stories were accurate. We're pleased to report that Miss Jackson–if–you're–nasty appeared healthy, neither too tiny nor carrying the 30 extra pounds people seem to think she's packing. She did, however, wear a fedora with a small feather tucked into the band, giving her look a distinct and sort-of-forced air of Lady Mobster. So … we guess we'll be calling her Miss Jackson.

New York's Amy Larocca found former Revlon model Veronica Webb in the tents, wearing an outfit she chose "based on how warm I could be and how cute I could be at the same time." While modeling has changed since Webb walked runways in the eighties, some things are always the same. "I never felt like I was thin enough," she said. Watch the Video Look Book.
