So far, buyers from Bergdorf Goodman, Bird, and Intermix have told us which runway looks they plan to snatch up for fall. Now Ann Watson, VP fashion director at Henri Bendel, joins the party. Ann will be stocking Michael Kors's cocktail dresses, Anna Sui's prints, and Malandrino's purples.
He has the Midas touch when it comes to understanding what the jet-set lady wants: glamorous fur, cozy cashmere, tweed for day, and understated drama for night. My favorites included Kors's sexy feather-hemmed cocktail minidresses, exotic skin clutches in rich browns and bright colors, and an array of perfectly proportioned anoraks, peacoats, and steamers.
No matter what direction the fashion wind blows, Anna stays true to herself. For fall, she sent out great dresses in fantastic Warholian prints (she has a keen sense for prints) layered over fitted turtlenecks that I loved. It's such an effortless way to dress. But, my must-have items were the tights in a variety of textures, metallics, and colors — the trend continues!
She has such a great eye for color. Malandrino's range of purples were by far my favorite. I especially loved it in her delicate chiffon bubble dress and in her draped silk jersey dresses. Her new jewelry, hand-sculpted Lucite bangles, and geometric silver rings reflect Catherine's personality and aesthetic vision: bold, modern, and feminine.
