Throughout the week, buyers from Bird, Henri Bendel, Intermix, and more will tell us which runway looks they plan on stocking. Today, Henri Bendel VP and fashion director Ann Watson reveals her current faves: hemlines from Tibi, the surprises at Peter Som, and everything at DVF.

Tibi
Tibi’s collection was a seventies romp gleaning inspiration from London’s Kings Road to Saville Row, evident from her three-piece pantsuit and her mix of graphic prints and patterns. The hemlines ran the gamut from mini to maxi. The legs were covered in Tibi’s new sweater tights in collaboration with Hue. The collection did not disappoint and was full of signature playful prints from oversize bold graphics to feminine paisleys.

Peter Som
Peter Som’s brilliance was in his effortless mastery of eccentricity: mixing prints, colors, textures, and fur. It was the unexpected surprises — an army-green broadtail fur over a gray sweatshirt and a floral matelassé skirt — that created such a dynamic collection. His color palette was a refreshing blend of blues, cerise, and plum. My two must-haves: the cocktail dress in his navy draped silk-duchesse-satin bustier and his cheetah-print coat — a timeless luxury every chic woman needs!

Diane Von Furstenberg
Diane Von Furstenberg drew inspiration from her expansive personal journeys and took us on a globe-trotting trip — first stop, Berlin with forties-inspired jackets, swingy skirts, and diaphanous chiffon dresses layered under chunky sweaters or tweed coats. Then to Shanghai, with chinoiserie-influenced prints and long and sexy gowns. And then back to the Big Apple with Art Deco graphic prints and shimmery flapper dresses inspired by the Chrysler Building. The skinny belt was the key accessory for DVF’s silhouette because it highlighted the waistline — a big trend for fall '08. Other favorite accessories were her colorful reworked military hats and long gloves, helping to create a fresh and overall polished look.
